Safely extend the RealTime database

To ensure project customizations do not negatively impact baseline software, there are several restrictions when modifying baseline tables within the RealTime database (RTDB). These restrictions only apply to modifications of baseline tables—not to the creation of new tables. Violating these restrictions may result in system instability or loss of functionality.
Restricted Operations
-
You cannot:
-
Add additional fields before baseline fields to tables.
You must add all additional fields to the end of baseline tables after existing fields. Adding additional fields prior to baseline fields will modify the offset of baseline fields and negatively impact baseline functionality and stability.
-
Extend baseline structures.
Modification of baseline structures may result in the offset of fields being modified within baseline tables.
-
Modify type lengths.
Modification of type length may result in the offset of fields being modified within baseline tables. As such, you cannot modify baseline type lengths, such as string lengths.
-
Add additional system or common type objects.
You cannot add tables and types that are defined as system or common.
-
Remove fields from baseline tables.
As baseline functionality may rely on fields existing within RTDB, you cannot remove fields from baseline tables.
-
Allowed Operations

You can create:
-
New tables
