Extended Markup Language (XML) Point Import file

By default, the Extended Markup Language (XML) Point Import application reads data from Extended Markup Language (XML) files placed in the %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\Temp\CustomApps\xmldata folder. Each file must take the following format:

Field

Description and Constraints

<xs:element name="IList">

IList - Item List: Root tag.

<xs:element name="I">

I - Item

<xs:element name="T" type="xs:string">

T โ€“ Item Type: A for analog, S for status, R for rate, or M for multistate

<xs:element name="N" type="xs:string">

N โ€“ Input Coordinates of the point

<xs:element name="D" type="xs:float"/>

D - Data Value

Note: The driver imports analog and rate point values using the float data type. Hence, if the PointType is "A" or "R", the Point Type field in the analog or rate Row Edit dialog box in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) must be set to float. If the Point Type field is set to anything other than float, nonsense values will appear in the RealTime database (RTDB).

<xs:element name="Q" type="DataQuality"/>

Q โ€“ Quality (If the value is not "good", the point is marked stale and is not updated.)

<IList>

<I>

<T>A</T>

<N>XML_analog_1_2_F_110</N>

<D>12.34</D>

<Q>good</Q>

</I>

<I>

<T>S</T>

<N>XML_analog_1_2_F_110</N>

<D>1</D>

<Q>good</Q>

</I>

<I>

<T>R</T>

<N>XML_rate_1_F_110</N>

<D>10</D>

<Q>good</Q>

</I>

</IList>

Notes

  • The quality flag is optional. However, it must either exist for every input file record or for none at all. If only some of the points have the quality flag, the application logs an error and rejects the entire file. If the quality flag is completely omitted, points are processed the same as if the quality flag was present with a value of "good".

  • If the application encounters a malformed XML file, it appends the text ".err" to the file within the %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\Temp\CustomApps\xmldata folder. In addition, the system generates an alarm and logs an event, both of which display the following message: "MALFORMED XML RECEIVED from OriginalFileName.xml".

  • The Notes for Point Import also apply to XML Point Import.
