Privilege records

Privilege records are configured with the doas_privilege Row Details dialog box.

In a distributed project, no privileges are granted unless a privilege record specifically allows a system to assert itself upon a dataset. Therefore, it is rarely necessary to define privilege records in which all privileges are defined as "no." This can drastically reduce the number of records required for a distributed project.

However, sometimes there is an occasional need to disable all privileges in a privilege record. If a system is used to pass data through to another system, it requires subscriptions even though the system has no privileges on the connected system. The CreateCMXRepSubscriptions section discusses this scenario in more detail.

The following table provides a description of the fields, buttons, and checkboxes on the doas_privileges Row Details dialog box.

Field

Description

Mode

This is the name of the mode associated with the dataset and privileges

Dataset

This field is used to associate the record with the privileges assigned for each system and mode. One a record is assigned to a dataset value, the dataset can only be changed to a value of an existing privilege record. A record’s dataset cannot be changed in any way that prevents the system from accessing the record.

System

This field contains the name of the related oas_system record.

Alarm

Select a setting from the dropdown menu to assign the alarming behavior for the dataset. Your options are: flash, store, and ignore. Flash means that alarms are displayed in their current state on the non_owning systems The ability to acknowledge flashing alarms on a non-owning system depends on its control privilege. Choosing flash when there is no Controller station with the area of responsibility for that alarm, causes it to appear on all Controller stations configured to receive non-covered alarms. Store means that alarms are conveyed as acknowledged, whether or not they have been on the owning system. Ignore means that no alarm data is replicated between systems.

Ownership

Select to give the system ownership of the records in the specified dataset. Data acquisition and calculations are performed only when ownership privilege has been granted.

Event

Select to cause the system to maintain event logs for the records in the specified dataset.

Configurable

Select to allow the system to configure the records in the specified dataset.

Controllable

Select to allow the system to control the records in the specified dataset.

Enable Statistics

Select this to:

  • Cause the system to gather statistics, such as runtime and averages, for the records in the specified dataset.

  • Enable integrations on the non-owning system.

Local System Collect

If this checkbox is selected, Historical data will not replicate (via either Datapump or MS Replication) across sub systems, and the records in the specified dataset will be collected into the local system's Historical database.

Note: The functionality behind this checkbox is deprecated and will be removed in a future release.
