Alarm State Inhibits

This application allows Administrators and Controllers to inhibit alarms on a per-state basis for analog, rate, flowTotalConfig, and tank points, including Alternate Alarm Limits for analog points.

While the system does not generate an alarm on a point with an inhibited alarm state when said point enters that state, the point's color on displays, as well as its state message, changes as per default functionality. However, the system logs a Manual override period expired event upon expiry of the set period. After the initial event is raised, a new event is logged every two minutes until the alarms are re-enabled, or the point is placed back into RealTime mode from Manual Override mode.

In addition:

  • Unless the point-wide "Off-Normal Log" setting is enabled, the system generates an event indicating that alarming on that state is inhibited.

  • Any pipeline display, dialog box, or summary configured to show the data quality of the point indicates that the point is inhibited.

Such state-inhibited points are not subject to the Re-Alarming functionality. Similarly, Alarm Parking does not generate an alarm for an individually inhibited state when either the system or a Controller unparks the alarm.
