Modify the [DQCHECK] section based on project requirements

The [DQCHECK] section of the pioas_cfg.dat file is intended for those special tags that require a check of data quality prior to sending to PI. The data quality fields are listed in the order that the user would like the interface to examine the flags fields in AVEVA Enterprise SCADA. If any of the data qualities is in the indicated state (0 or 1), then the corresponding PI digital state will be sent to PI. The PI digital state must be indicated as a positive offset within the SYSTEM digital set. If the PI digital state is not indicated, then BAD INPUT is written to the point in PI.
[DQCHECK]
1=error 1 255
2=fresh 0 288
3=offscan 1 238
The first number in the [DQCHECK] section represents the state value that shows whether the point is in the indicated state or not (either 0 or 1). The second number indicates the PI digital state as a positive offset within the SYSTEM digital set. For example, if a RealTime database (RTDB) point’s fresh field in the flags structure has a state value of zero, which means this point is in the stale state, the interface will send the corresponding PI digital state 288 to PI instead of the point’s current data value.
The states 288 (Stale), 255 (Error) and 238 (Offscan) should correspond to the same states in the PI SYSTEM digital set. If there is no corresponding state in the SYSTEM digital set, follow the procedure below to create the state.
To create a new state in the SYSTEM digital set
-
On a PI server, start PI System Management Tools.
-
In the System Management Plug-Ins panel, select Points > Digital States.
PI System Management Tools displays a list of digital sets defined for the PI Server.

-
Under the list of digital sets, select SYSTEM.
The State Number and State Name columns appear.
-
Find the State Number that matches the state defined in the [DQCHECK] section.
-
If the State Name is undefined for that State Number, then add the state name.
For example:

-
If a state name already exists in the SYSTEM digital set, update the [DQCHECK] section of the configuration file with the state number in the SYSTEM Digital Set. For example, if Stale is 288 in the SYSTEM Digital Set, update the [DQCHECK] section as follows:
[DQCHECK]
1=error 1 255
2=fresh 0 288
3=offscan 1 238
Note: You will need to update the fields listed in this section to meet customer-specific requirements (by adding new fields or changing default fields as necessary).
