Status Row Edit: Output tab

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 3 minute read

Use the Output tab in the status Row Edit dialog box to configure output commands for status records.

The Output tab has two similar configuration sections: Command #1 that configures the OPEN command and Command #2 that configures the CLOSE command.

Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

The following table describes items on the Output tab in the status Row Edit dialog box.

Items

Description

Has Output

Select the checkbox to allow configuration of output commands for status points.

Output Command Message

Enter or select the name of the command (output) message set.

For further information, refer to Status output message set.

Command Type

This field indicates the command type.

For further information, refer to Status output message set.

Output Type

Select the type of output command. The choices are:

  • Latched. The status point remains toggled after the command is executed.

  • Momentary. The status point is changed only for the duration of the command signal.

  • SBO. Select before operate.

Coordinates

Enter the coordinates where the data is mapped within the remote. This mapping depends on the protocol used.

Some protocols use registers to allocate data in remote memory, others use a definition of the point or file number for access. Representative data mappings and point configuration are described for various protocols in RealTime. Refer to your specific remote or protocol documentation for a definition of the data mappings and to determine the remote’s input/output data location in memory.

Command

Select one of the following options:

  • Energize. Energize the relay coil.

  • De energize. De-energize the relay coil.

Timeout (msec)

Enter the timeout associated with the command (in milliseconds). This is dependent on the protocol, but this value is typically set to the time needed to close the contacts for a momentary release.

Configure Bit Pattern

The Configure Bit Pattern will be enabled only if Bit Pattern Output is enabled. When the Command field on the Bit Format Output is set to Single Reg Output or Multiple Regs Output, you can configure the bit pattern of the Bit Pattern Output by selecting Configure Bit Pattern to open the Bit Mask Selector window.

Ignore Command Feedback

Select the checkbox to ignore any command feedback results. When selected, no command warning tags will be placed on the point and no command timeout alarms will generated after the command is successfully sent to the remote device. The settings for Command Failure Timeout, COS Failure Timeout, and Log Command Success will be ignored.

Command Failure Timeout

Enter the command failure timeout value (in seconds). If the command is unsuccessful, the system will wait for the timeout period before generating an alarm.

If a point has been configured as having both inputs and outputs, this value should be greater than 0. If a point has been configured as having only output, this value should be 0.

COS Failure Timeout

Enter the COS timeout value (in seconds). If the device does not change state in the time period configured here, an alarm is generated. This is only applicable to three-state and four-state devices (for example, devices where the Number of Input Bits field on the Input tab is set to 2).

If the timeout is 0, this feature is disabled. An alarm is not generated if the device is already in the commanded state.

This value must be less than the Command Failure Timeout.

Control Scan

This section is used to configure a feedback poll sent after the Controller issues a control or setpoint. The frequency and duration of the feedback poll is also configurable.

For further information, refer to volume 2 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.

Log Command Success

Select the checkbox to record successful commands in the event log. Each state transition from the time the command is issued to either the failure timeout or the successful completion of the command is also logged. Unsuccessful commands always generate alarms and are logged whether or not this is selected.

This feature requires Command Failure Timeout and COS Failure Timeout to be greater than 0.
