Output commands for multistate records are configured using the Output tab for multistate Row Edit dialog box.
Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

The following table describes items on the Output Tab in the multistate Row Edit dialog box.
Items |
Description |
|---|---|
Has Output |
Select the checkbox to allow configuration of output commands for multistate points. |
Command Base Message |
Select (...) and select the message record that holds the appropriate command message from the Select dialog box. |
Control Scan |
This section is used to configure a feedback poll sent after the Controller issues a control or setpoint. The frequency and duration of the feedback poll is also configurable. For further information, refer to volume 2 of the RealTime Administrator documentation. |
Command Results |
Select to open the Multistate Command Results dialog box. This dialog box allows you to associate the expected resultant input state for each possible output command for the point. For more information, refer to Multistate command results. |
Ignore Command Feedback |
Select the checkbox to ignore any command feedback results. When selected, no command warning tags will be placed on the point and no command timeout alarms will generated after the command is successfully sent to the remote device. The settings for Command Failure Timeout, COS Failure Timeout, and Log Command Success will be ignored. |
Command Failure Timeout |
Enter the command failure timeout value (in seconds). If the command is unsuccessful, the system will wait for the timeout period before generating an alarm. If a point has been configured as having both inputs and outputs, this value should be greater than 0. If a point has been configured as having only output, this value should be 0. |
COS Failure Timeout |
Enter the COS timeout value (in seconds). If the device does not change state in the time period configured here, an alarm is generated. This is only applicable to three-state and four-state devices (for example, devices where the Number of Input Bits field on the Input tab is set to 2). If the timeout is zero, this feature is disabled. An alarm is not generated if the device is already in the commanded state. This value must be less than the Command Failure Timeout. |
Log Command Success |
Select the checkbox to record successful commands in the event log. Each state transition from the time the command is issued to either the failure timeout or the successful completion of the command is also logged. Unsuccessful commands always generate alarms and are logged whether or not this is selected. This feature requires Command Failure Timeout and COS Failure Timeout to be greater than 0. |
Bit Pattern Output |
Select to open the Bit Format Output dialog box and configure the output bits. For more information, refer to Multistate bit format output. Note: This button is only available if the Data Format field in the Main tab is set to Bit Format. |
Enumerated Output |
Select to open the Multistate Enumerated Output dialog box and configure Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) register information. For more information, refer to Multistate enumerated output. Note: This button is only available if the Data Format field in the Main tab is set to Enumerated Format. |
Configure Bit Pattern |
The Configure Bit Pattern button will be enabled only if the Bit Pattern Output button is enabled. When the Command field on the Bit Format Output is set to Single Reg Output or Multiple Regs Output, you can configure the bit pattern of the Bit Pattern Output by selecting Configure Bit Pattern to open the Bit Mask Selector window. |
