Follow the procedure below to retrieve the source code and build the examples extended libraries on your system.

To build the RealTime PI SDK examples solution

  3. Install RealTime.PI.msi.

  4. On the RealTime server in the Test and Development System, log on as a member of DNA Developers.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  12. Once msbuild completes successfully, navigate to the following directory to locate the .dll file:

    %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\bin

  13. Copy the .dll file from the RealTime server in the Test and Development System to the following location on the PI Client host:

    %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\bin\

  14. Configure the PI Client host to enable loading of the extension Dynamic-link library (DLL):

    1. Copy the %DNAInstallRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings\PI_Extensions.json file to %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings\.

    2. In the JSON file, change the dll entries from false to true.

      For example, to load libPiDigitalConvert.dll:

      {

      "PI": {

      "Extensions": {

      "DataConvertSupport": {

      "libPiDigitalConvert.dll": true

      }

      }
