Description

Enable Line Error Suppression

Select Enable Line Error Suppression.

Failed Remote Threshold

Enter the number of remotes that must fail consecutively before the system generates a No Reply alarm.

For example, assume the threshold is "3". If two remotes fail to reply during separate, consecutive polls, the system does not issue a No Reply alarm. Instead, it:

  • Marks the line as suspect.

  • Creates an event.

When the third, consecutive remote fails, the system then:

  • Marks the line as failed.

  • Creates an event indicating:

    • Line failure, and

    • The time of the last reply.

  • Generates an alarm indicating line failure.

Important: If you should change the Failed Remote Threshold after the system generates an alarm indicating line failure, the system marks the line as suspect. As soon as a remote replies, the line returns to normal.

Count on-scan remotes only against failure threshold

Select to include only onscan remotes in the no reply count.

Scenario 1: Count on-scan remotes only against failure threshold not selected

Assume that:

  • There are five remotes on the connection line.

  • The Failed Remote Threshold is "3".

  • There is one failed, offscan remote.

When the second, consecutive remote fails to respond during a poll, the system generates and alarm indicating line failure.

Scenario 2: Count on-scan remotes only against failure threshold selected

    Assume that:

  • There are five remotes on the connection line.

  • The Failed Remote Threshold is "3".

  • There is one failed, offscan remote.

When the third, consecutive remote fails to respond during a poll, the system generates an alarm indicating line failure.

Enable Line Failure Alarms

Select to have the system generate an alarm when the number of "No Reply" remotes reaches the configured threshold.

Generate Persistent Alarms

If desired, select to generate persistent alarms.
