Privileges define how systems behave. These privileges are required for many RealTime database (RTDB) records in a distributed system.

The following information must be determined respecting privileges for each record:
-
Is the point owned by this system?
-
Can the point be controlled by this system?
-
Should events be recorded at this system?
-
Can the point be modified by this system?
-
How is alarming configured for this point on this system?
Many points share identical privileges, so these privileges are grouped together to form a dataset record. RTDB records use a dataset reference to identify their privileges.
In a distributed installation, privilege is used to establish operating permissions that are related to a particular dataset for a system. The doas_privileges Table Edit, shown above, lists all the configured privileges that are associated with a specific mode.
