Instrument failure alarm deadband

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 1 minute read

This enhancement allows you to configure an instrument fail deadband to indicate when the instrument has failed to provide a range of expected values.

Note: In the following procedure, an analog point is used as an example. The procedure is the same for rate points. The Alarming tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box is opened through the analog table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the analog table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.

To enable the Instrument Fail Check

  1. Navigate to the Alarming tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box.

  2. Select Instrument Fail Check.

  3. Enter an Instrument Fail Deadband value.

If the raw value falls outside of the range established by the values in the Minimum (EGU) and Maximum (EGU) fields on the record's Input tab by more than the Instrument Fail Deadband value, the system raises an alarm.
