Use the Interactive SQL (ISQL) tool to issue Microsoft SQL commands to access the RealTime database (RTDB). The Microsoft SQL commands are processed by the Microsoft SQL Engine and applied to the RTDB to view, create, update, and delete records in the tables.
Before You Begin
-
Ensure the RealTime service is running.
To start ISQL
-
In the Start menu, select Interactive SQL (ODBC).
The OpenRDA Interactive SQL window (ISQL application) appears.
-
Optional: To view the full list of available ISQL commands, enter help, and press Enter.
Note: The Microsoft SQL Engine treats all table and column names as not case-sensitive.
Example: Connecting to the Database with ISQL
In the example below, the ISQL tool is used to connect to a datasource through a Microsoft SQL command (connect esRTDB). The command connects to the specified datasource name (esRTDB) that is already installed and pre-configured on the system (System Data Source Name [DSN]).
