Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) is used to store AVEVA Enterprise SCADA system configuration information, such as DNA Permissions, DNA Authorities, Area Of Responsibility (AOR) Groups, AOR Areas, Computers, Services, and Systems. The default classes available can be determined by reading %DNAInstallRoot%\Common\config\ADLDS\ADAMConfigurationFile.xml, or by exploring the AD LDS schema using the Active Directory Service Interfaces Edit (ADSIEdi) Microsoft management control snap-in.
The AD LDS information is available to all computers that contain AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Infrastructure. AD LDS information can be replicated within and between trusted domains. AD LDS information is not replicated between non-trusted domains; however the ADLDSXDomainReplication application is available for replicating specific classes and attributes across non-trusted domains.
The %DNAInstallRoot%\Common\bin\DNAExtendADLDSSchema.exe utility is used to add new classes and/or attributes to the default AD LDS schema. It uses an XML file for instructions on schema updates.
The NMC also supports extension assemblies in order to support new AD LDS classes and attributes within the NMC tree structure. You can use the AdminTools C# NMCExtensions_DLL template to create the NMC extension assemblies.
Whenever a node is refreshed, the system loads all assemblies in either the install root or data root of the Tools silo that end with NMCExtensions.dll.
To create an NMC extension assembly
-
Create a new assembly with a name that ends with NMCExtensions.dll.
-
Reference the OASySDNA.Common.NMC.dll assembly.
-
Implement the OASySDNA.Common.NMC.INMCExtension interface within a public class with a parameter-free constructor.
-
Add your custom logic to the RegisterWithNMC method within your implementation of the INMCExtension interface.
-
Build the assembly to the %DNADataRoot%\Tools\bin directory.
