Configure slot range records

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025

Slot range records are configured using the tabs on the doas_slotrange Row Details and Row Edit dialog boxes.

Notes: Typically during system setup, the createSlotRange command is used to build slot ranges contiguously across the systems, as opposed to manually creating records using the Advanced Database Editor (ADE).

Once the doas_slotrange record has been fully defined, the system disables further modification. Hence, a record created by the createSlotRange command would not be editable. For this reason, it is important that the slot ranges configured during system setup allow ample room for growth.

The spooler table should have a Maximum Slot Number value of equal to, or less than, 255.

It is possible to manually define additional slot ranges for systems as required (for example, if a table has increased in size while the system is in production). However, these additional slot ranges would not be contiguous with those that were originally defined.

The following table provides a description of the fields on the doas_slotrange Row Details dialog box.

Field

Description

Name

Enter the name of the slot range record name.

Table Name

Enter the name of the RealTime database (RTDB) table type.

System Name

Enter the name of the related system record.

Range Type

Select one of the following range types from the dropdown menu:

Slot range: Uses a minimum and maximum slot to ensure that the data is stored correctly where tables are replicated.

Unrestricted: Ignores the minimum and maximum slots. It is used for local tables, which are never replicated, or global tables, which are distributed but do not have a dataset field.

Undefined: Indicates that the record is not completely defined and must be ignored. Modifications of records of undefined type are allowed.

Minimum Slot

Enter the minimum slot in the range. This field must be greater than zero, and is only required if the slot range Range Type is selected.

Maximum Slot

Enter the maximum slot in the range. This field must be less than or equal to the table dimension, and is only required if the slot range Range Type is selected.
