Note: A status point is used as an example in the following procedure. The steps are the same for multistate points. The Alarming tab in the status Row Edit dialog box is opened through the status table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the status table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.

To configure status and multistate points

  1. Navigate to the Alarming tab on the multistate Row Edit dialog box.

  2. Select the Enable Email Notification checkbox to enable the record for alert paging notifications.

Note: Alert paging uses the same configuration settings as Email Alarm Notification.

  3. In the Email Alert Group field, enter or select the name of the alertGroup record containing the users who will receive messages about alarms associated with this point.

  4. In the Minimum Alert Severity field, do one of the following:

    • Select a minimum alert severity.

The application sends an alert paging message when an alarm's severity level is equal to, or greater than, the Minimum Alert Severity. A message is not sent when an alarm's severity level is below the Minimum Alert Severity.

    • Select none to disable this field.

Note: The system excludes return-to-normal alarms from the minimum alert severity filter.

  5. In the Abnormal State Alarms field, select yes to generate an alert paging message in the event of an Abnormal State alarm.

    Abnormal states are configured by:

    1. Select Abnormal States on the Alarming tab.

    2. On the Abnormal States Alarms dialog box, select the checkbox for the states that are considered abnormal.

    3. Select Accept.

  6. In the Paging Park Time field, enter the amount of time (in minutes) that the Field Operator has to respond to the alarm. After the time expires, the alarm message will become visible to the Controller.

  7. In the Paging Retry field, enter the number of retry, or reminder, messages that will be sent until the Field Operator acknowledges the alarm or the Paging Park Time expires.

  8. Select the Annunciated Page field to allow both the Field Operator and Controller to acknowledge the alarm. If this field is selected, the alarm will not be parked and will be visible to the Controller immediately.
