You can modify the severity and message text associated with a specific alarm condition. This can be applied to either a point class or to alarms not associated with a point (base msgInfo set) by changing the record for that alarm condition in the related msgInfo set.
To modify an existing msgInfo record
-
Open the Advanced Database Editor (ADE), and locate the msgInfo Set listing.
-
Expand the msgInfo Set grouping you want to modify.
-
Double-click the msgInfo table.
The msgInfo Table Edit dialog box appears.

-
Double-click the msgInfo set record to be modified.
The msgInfo Row Details dialog box appears with the Name, Set Name, and Set And Name fields populated with the data from the record.
Note: Selecting the Use Assembly checkbox indicates the alarm severity and message text will be read from a compiled resource assembly. You will need to provide the .dll file and the associated resource. The base msgInfo set records contain this information and do not need to be duplicated for the alarm condition in the new msgInfo set.

-
In the Message Text field, change the specific alarm condition message text as required.
Note: The message text must not contain more arguments ({x}) than specified in the original baseline msgInfo set record for the same alarm condition.
-
Change the Severity for the alarm condition as required.
-
Select Apply.
-
Save the record when prompted.
The changes to the message text and severity for alarm conditions within the msgInfo set record will be applied to any point class with this msgInfo set.
