Table nesting

As explained in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation, the ADE window presents information in a tree view: you can expand lists of tables to reveal all the records contained in the tables or filtered by a selected parent node. The ability to drill down through tables is made possible by ADE's use of reference columns. A reference column takes its value from another table. For example, expanding the Area table in the ADE window reveals all areas defined in the RealTime database (RTDB) area table. Expanding one of the areas displays a list of groups defined for this area. Expanding one of the groups displays the telemetered points defined for the group.

ADE does not automatically construct the drill-down relationship seen in the tree view: Administrators must configure the relationships among the various nodes and the extent to which one can drill down through the various levels in a process collectively referred to as table nesting. Administrators can define table nesting under any menu item. The structure seen above in the Area table example can be replicated in a different menu item if so desired.
