Note: For information on overriding default configuration settings, refer to Modify configuration settings.

Follow the procedure below to configure the system such that, when a Controller selects the Safety Related checkbox on either the Alarm Summary or Event Summary window, the window displays one of the following:

  • Alarms/events associated with points designated as safety-related

  • Alarms/events that occur when safety-related points enter a safety-related alarm state

  • Alarms/events associated with both Safety Related points and Safety states

To control the display of safety-related alarm and event messages

  1. In the %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings directory, either create or open the RealTime_SafetyRelated.json file.

    The following example shows the content of the RealTime_SafetyRelated.json file:

    {

    "RealTime": {

    "ENABLE_SAFETY_FLAG": "BOTH"

    }

    }

  2. For the "ENABLE_SAFETY_FLAG" value, do one of the following:

    1. To have the Alarm or Event Summary window display only alarms associated with safety-related points when the Controller selects the Safety Related checkbox, change the value to POINT.

    2. To have the Alarm or Event Summary window display only alarms associated with safety-related alarm states when the Controller selects the Safety Related checkbox, change the value to STATE.

    3. To have the Alarm or Event Summary window display alarms associated with both safety-related points and safety-related alarm states when the Controller selects the Safety Related checkbox, change the value to BOTH.

    4. To disable the safety-related alarm/event feature, change the value to NONE.

  3. Save the file.

  4. Restart the RealTime service.
