Follow this procedure to generate a one-time or recurring alarm when a selected RealTime database (RTDB) point meets a configured condition.
Before you begin
Complete the steps in Open the Add Reminder dialog box.
To add a one time conditional reminder
-
In the Name field on the Add Reminder dialog box, enter a name for the reminder record.
Note: Any spaces used in the name will be replaced with _.
-
In the Severity field, select the alarm severity associated with the reminder:
-
critical
-
high
-
major
-
medium
-
minor
-
low
-
none
-
-
Select the associated Dataset.
Note: To associate the dataset with the reminder record, you must have distributed control and configuration permissions as defined by an Administrator in the DistribuSys mode control configuration.
-
Select the Group to which you want to add the reminder.
Groups determine who sees the alarm. Groups are assigned to the Area of Responsibilities (AORs), which Administrators in turn assign to Controllers for view/control on login.
-
In the Alarm Message field, enter the text of the alarm message.
-
Select Conditional Alarm.
The application generates a reminder message when one of the following occurs:
-
Analog — The value of the analog point in the Name field meets the conditional dependency as configured in the Operator and Value fields. Analog points use the curval field.
-
Rate — The value of the rate point in the Name field meets the conditional dependency as configured in the Operator and Value fields. Rate points use the currate field.
-
Status — The state of the status point in the Name field for the Status meets the conditional dependency as configured in the State field. Status points use the cursta field.
-
Threshold Analog — The value of the analog point in the Current Name field is greater than, or less than, the analog point in the Target Name field plus or minus a value.
For more information on the conditional items on the Add Reminder dialog box, refer to the table below.
-
-
Optional: Select Recurring to make this a recurring alarm.
Note: If the reminder is not configured as recurring, the reminder will be automatically deleted once the alarm generated by the reminder is acknowledged.
When the criteria is met, the system generates a flashing alarm. When a Controller acknowledges the alarm on the Alarm Summary window, it stops flashing, but remains enabled. If the criteria is once again met, the reminder alarm starts flashing again.
-
Refer to the table below as a guide to configuring the Condition section of the Add Reminder dialog box.
-
Select Add.
The following table details the conditional items on the Add Reminder dialog box.
|
Field / Option Button |
Description |
|---|---|
|
Analog |
|
|
Name |
The name of the analog point used in value comparisons for Conditional reminders. |
|
Operator |
The mathematical operator used when comparing the value of the analog point in the Analog Name field with the Value. Options:
|
|
Value |
The target value for the analog point configured as part of a Conditional reminder. |
|
Rate |
|
|
Name |
The name of the rate point used in value comparisons for Conditional reminders. |
|
Operator |
The mathematical operator used when comparing the value of the analog point in the Rate Name field with the Value. Options:
|
|
Value |
The target value for the rate point configured as part of a conditional reminder. Notes: The target value can only be an integer or double for conditional reminders for a rate point. The current rate value is used for rate conditional reminders. |
|
Status |
|
|
Name |
The name of the status point used in status comparisons for Conditional reminders. |
|
State |
The name of the state used when comparing the state of the status point in the Status Name field with the State. Example: If:
|
|
Threshold Analog |
|
|
Current Analog Name |
The name of the current analog point used in value comparisons for Threshold Conditional reminders. |
|
Operator |
The mathematical operator used when comparing the value of the analog point in the Current Analog Name field with the value arising from the Target Analog Name, Range, and Value fields. Options:
|
|
Target Analog Name |
The name of the target analog point used in value comparisons for Threshold Conditional reminders. |
|
Range |
Select whether you want to add the threshold value to, or subtract it from, the target value. |
|
Value |
The target value for the analog point configured as part of a Conditional reminder. |
