Follow this procedure to assign the separate message sets for input and output commands to a given status point.

Before you begin

Complete the steps in Create message sets for input and output commands.

To assign the message sets to a status point

The Main tab in the status Row Edit dialog box is opened through the status table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the status table, refer to volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.

  1. Navigate to the Main tab in the status Row Edit dialog box.

  2. In the Base Message field, enter or select the name of the state (input) message set.

  3. Navigate to the Output tab.

  4. Select Has Output.

  5. In the Output Command Message field, enter or select the name of the command (output) message set.

As an example of what these settings mean visually to a Controller, assume that, for a given status point, its command (output) message set contains the messages "START" and "STOP", while it's corresponding state (input) message set contains the messages "RUNNING" and "STOPPED". If the Controller starts the device, its Status Control dialog box appears as below.
