AVEVA Enterprise SCADA

Foundation release notes

  • Last UpdatedMay 04, 2026
  • 5 minute read

The AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Foundation release notes sections contain information on applicable expectations and limitations, new features and enhancements, deprecated or removed features, fixed and known issues, and documentation included in this release.

Foundation expectations and limitations

The following expectations and limitations should be considered for this release:

  • As of the date of this release, the only supported upgrade path is from 2024 SP1 Patch 1 to 2025—including all hotfixes.

  • The following limitations apply to applications accessing resources outside their silo:

    • An application cannot interface with items outside of its underlying silo. For example, the RealTime silo cannot depend on files in the Historical silo.

    • A silo always has access to the Shared silo. The Shared silo is a special silo that allows for resources to be shared across multiple products (for example, TimeZone database or Data Access Layer [DAL] configuration).

    • Any interactions between silos must use public Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), such as executables, Business Logic Tier (BLT) calls, PubSub subscriptions, or other middleware components.

    • A silo such as RealTime cannot assume the existence of any other silo other than Shared.

  • The following AVEVA Enterprise SCADA products are not compliant with Internationalization:

    • Management of Change (MoC)

  • The Network Management Console on Windows 10 Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) 2019 requires the latest Microsoft security patch of Windows 10 LTSC 2019 (June 2022 or later) in order to browse the log folder of other DNA computers on the same domain.

For further information, please refer to KB5015018.

Foundation new features and enhancements

The following new features and enhancements were added:

  • AVEVA now supports Active Directory domain names where the second-level name (that is, the first part) of a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) is not unique and does not match the Network Basic Input/Output System (NetBIOS) name. For example, MyDomain.Test and MyDomain.Com contain the same second-level name, where the NetBIOS names would be unique as MyDomainTest and MyDomainCom, respectively.

  • With the release of AVEVA Enterprise SCADA 2025, you can access the online help files via the AVEVA Help Viewer or the AVEVA Documentation Portal.

This release marks the transition of our online help from the AVEVA Help Viewer to the AVEVA Documentation Portal, which offers enhanced security, unified product content, faster search functionality, and a modern user experience with customization options.

Future releases will not include or support the AVEVA Help Viewer, but documentation will still be available with the installation media in PDF (user documentation) and HTML (API reference documentation) formats.

To view the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA documentation on the AVEVA Documentation Portal, sign in with your AVEVA product-support credentials (the same ones used for the Knowledge and Support Center).

As the AVEVA Documentation Portal evolves, previously released versions of the documentation will be available for download as PDFs and HTML zip files. For more information, visit the AVEVA Documentation Portal.

  • Starting with AVEVA Enterprise SCADA 2025, the new AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Security Administrator Guide is now part of the documentation set.

  • We have updated the language used in our deliverables to be more consistent and modern.

Foundation deprecated features

The following features were deprecated or removed:

  • The Microsoft BinaryFormatter class used internally by AVEVA Enterprise SCADA has been deprecated and will be removed from the product in a future version.

  • The following deprecated, internal methods have been removed from the product:

    • DNAIdentity.Impersonate

    • DNAWindowsIdentity.Impersonate

Important: Any code that needs to explicitly impersonate another user should use the recommended replacement: RunImpersonated.

The Infrastructure features affected by the removal of the above internal methods already use the recommended replacement.

  • The deprecated Infrastructure\CoreSDK\sdk\CoreSDK\include\ResolveEventHandlerClass.h file has been removed from the product.
