Configure the maximum inhibit time

Follow this procedure to create an application record that defines the maximum amount of time that a Controller can inhibit an alarm. If the maximum inhibit time is not configured, Controllers have the option to indefinitely inhibit point alarms.
Application records are stored in the application table, and configured and edited using the application Row Edit dialog box within the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE and how to create records, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation.
Note: Return-to-normal alarms do not have an expiry timeout. When Controllers inhibit such an alarm, the alarm inhibit remains in place until they manually remove the inhibit. The maximum inhibit time, configured as per the procedure below, does not apply to return-to-normal alarms.
To configure the maximum inhibit time
-
Create an application record with the name "MaxInhibitTO".
-
Navigate to the Values tab in the application Row Edit dialog box.

-
In the String Value field, enter the maximum inhibit time in the following format:
dd:hh:mm
The maximum inhibit time appears to the Controller on the Alarm Inhibit dialog box.

Should a Controller override the maximum inhibit time, the time reverts to its Administrator-configured setting when either of the following two conditions occur:
-
The Controller cancels the inhibition of alarms.
-
The Secondtimer expires.
For further information, refer to the RealTime Controller documentation.
For information on configuring the remaining fields on the application Row Edit dialog box, refer to RealTime tables.
