Follow this procedure to inhibit alarms and events on commands generated by an automated process against analog, status, multistate, or rtstring points.

To inhibit alarms and events associated with automated process commands

Note: In the following procedure, an analog point is used as an example. The procedure is similar for configuring status, multistate, and rtstring points. The Inhibits tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box is opened through the analog table listing in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). For general information on ADE, and further information on the analog table, refer to the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) Administrator documentation and RealTime tables, respectively.

  1. On the owning system, open the script or program that issues the commands for which you want to inhibit alarms and/or events.

Note: You can only execute automated commands from the owning system.

  2. For each applicable command, append CMDAUTO to the end of the command.

The following commands accept the CMDAUTO keyword:

    • Analog: SETPOINT (for example, "SETPOINT 10 CMDAUTO")

    • Status/Multistate: digital commands (for example, "COMMAND OPEN CMDAUTO", "COMMAND CLOSE CMDAUTO")

    • Rtstring: SETSTRING and SETVAL (for example, "SETSTRING <XXXXXX> CMDAUTO", "SETVAL <XXXXXX> CMDAUTO")

      Examples

      • Fnput rtstring.test "setval valve cmdauto" - the string sent will be "valve cmdauto".

      • Fnput rtstring.test "setval valve CMDAUTO" - the string sent will be "valve" and the function put will be interpreted as an automatic command.

  3. Navigate to the Inhibits tab in the analog Row Edit dialog box.

  4. To inhibit alarms associated with commands generated by the automated process, select Inhibit Auto Command Alarms.

  5. To inhibit events associated with commands generated by the automated process, select Inhibit Auto Command Events.
