Configure zero as a normal state

Note: For information on overriding default configuration settings, refer to Modify configuration settings.

When using absolute alarming checking, a value of zero can be considered as in a Normal state and should not be subject to hilo alarm limit checking. This is primarily intended to be used in bi-directional flow measurements where no flow is considered a normal state and reduces nuisance alarms. This can be used in conjunction with the analog and rate low cutoff feature, where values below a cutoff are replaced with zero.

To configure zero as a normal state

  1. In the %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\config\Settings directory, either create or open the RealTime_AbsAlarmingZeroIsNormalState.json file.

  2. In the following line, change false to true.

    "RealTime" > "ABS_ALARMING_ZERO_IS_NORMAL_STATE": false

  3. Save the file.

  4. Restart the RealTime service.
