Add a PostCustomEditValidator element to a form

Custom forms are used when you need to perform a complex database editing operation and existing Advanced Database Editor (ADE) DBEdit XML commands cannot fulfill the requirement. ADE custom forms include EditForm, ProcessPopupForm, PreCustomEditValidator, and PostCustomEditValidator elements.

You can add the PostCustomEditValidator element to the DataSetTable element. When you save a record, the class invokes logic to validate column values and mark columns in error. The PostCustomEditValidator element is used when virtual layer functions cannot be used to identify configuration errors, as several fields are linked and values are required to be set before validation can be performed in the virtual layer. You must define the PostCustomEditValidator element before the first Field element in the DataSetTable element. For example, the almdisturbance form performs validation to ensure that the system name value matches the record name.

<DataSetTable

Name="almdisturbance"

Description="Alarm Disturbance"

. . .

DataDisplayWidthMax="300">

<PostCustomEditValidator

Assembly="OASySDNA.DBEditHelperForms.Current"

Class="AlmdisturbancePostValidationPopUp"

Method="PostValidate" />

. . .

</DataSetTable>
