Generate symbolic debugging information

In order to debug your component, you must ensure that Symbolic Debugging Information has been generated for it and distributed to the correct host.

To generate Symbolic Debugging Information

  1. Open your component’s project solution in Microsoft Visual Studio.NET on the Test and Development System or your Developer PC.

  2. Choose View > Solution Explorer.

  3. Right-click on the component’s project and select Properties.

  4. Expand Configuration Properties, then select Build.

  5. Ensure that Generate Debugging Information is selected (or set to True).

  6. Repeat the above steps for each project configuration (Release and Debug).

  7. Recompile the project. This will generate a .pdb file in the %DNAInstallRoot%\RealTime\bin directory.

  8. Copy the .pdb file to the host on which the component is installed.
