When you navigate to the VS7 debug folder, there should be a number of files, including the Machine Debug Manager (mdm.exe).

Note: The Machine Debug Manager (MDM) feature has been deprecated and therefore is no longer supported.

To verify that the Visual Studio debugger is installed on your computer

  1. Start Windows Explorer.

  2. Navigate to <InstallDirectory>\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7Debug.

If the Machine Debug Manager is not installed, you can install it yourself from the Visual Studio .NET CD. You do not need an extra Visual Studio .NET license to install this.

For information on installing the Machine Debug Manager, refer to the Microsoft page on Remote Debugging.
