Open Platform Communications (OPC) special commands are used as service commands to establish and control connection between Omnicomm and the OPC server via the OPC client process.

The special commands are triggered automatically when a new connection is established between Omnicomm and the OPC client process. The following table lists the OPC special commands:

Command

Description

Example

INITIALIZE

This command initializes a connection between the OPC Client and the OPC Server.

fnput remote.OPCremote "INITIALIZE".

INITGROUP

This command initializes a group definition of the OPC server via the OPC Client process. Each group is defined with a group name, an active flag and an update rate.

fnput remote.OPCremote "INITGROUP".

INITITEMS

This command initializes items in a group on the OPC server via the OPC Client process. The list of item names is obtained from analog, status and rate configuration. Each of the analog, status, and rate records has a coordinate, which includes a group number and an item name.

fnput remote. OPCremote "INITITEMS 1" .This initializes the item list for group 1.

Note: "INITITEMS" or "INITITEMS 0" triggers initialization of item lists for all groups that are defined under the remote.

INTEGRITY

This command requests an integrity update for items that are defined in a group on the OPC server via the OPC Client process.

fnput remote.OPCremote "INTEGRITY 1" .This requests integrity update for group 1.

Note: "INTEGRITY" or "INTEGRITY 0" triggers a request for integrity update for all groups that are defined under the remote.
