AVEVA Enterprise SCADA

Tag Expiry

  • Last UpdatedNov 02, 2023

The Tag Expiry application allows Controllers to create tags with an expiry time/date and end time/date, make tags permanent, and assign priorities to tags.

When a tag within a Controller's Area Of Responsibility (AOR) reaches its configured expiry time, AVEVA Enterprise SCADA generates an alarm to notify him/her. Controllers can then extend, make permanent, or delete the expired tag. Expired tags remain active until Controllers take the appropriate action.

As part of this application, the following two AVEVA Enterprise SCADA tags were modified:

  • No Open Command Tag: if an attempted command against a status or multistate point contains the strings "start" or "open", AVEVA Enterprise SCADA inhibits the command.

  • No Close Command Tag: if an attempted command against a status or multistate point contains the strings "stop" or "close", AVEVA Enterprise SCADA inhibits the command.

Tags against points are ordered by priority. Tag priorities determine the severity of the alarm generated when a tag reaches its configured expiry time.
