Follow the procedure below to retrieve the source code and build the examples' extended libraries on your system.

To build the software development kit (SDK) examples solution

  1. Set up the Test and Development System.

    For more information around installation, please contact AVEVA Customer Support.

  2. On the RealTime server in the Test and Development System, log on as dnaInstaller.

  3. Install the RealTime.Service.msi file, if not already installed.

  4. On the RealTime server in the Test and Development System, log on as a member of DNA Developers.

  5. On the desktop, double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  6. Create a RealTime Developer Environment (refer to the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Shared Components Developer documentation).

  7. To build all the examples, proceed as follows:

    1. In Notepad, open the %DNASourceRoot%\RealTime\build.xml file.

    2. Locate the <ItemGroup Label="Solutions"> element.

    3. Add the following to the above element:

      SafetyAlarm.Examples.sln

      The updated section should look as follows:

      <ItemGroup Label="Solutions">

      <Solution Include="source\SafetyAlarm.Examples.sln" />

      </ItemGroup>

    4. Save and close the file

  8. Select Start, and, in the Search field, enter Developer Command Prompt for Visual Studio.

  9. Press Enter.

    The Visual Studio Developer Command Prompt window opens.

  10. Execute the following commands:

    cd %DNASourceRoot%\RealTime

    msbuild.xml

    Once msbuild completes successfully, the system will copy the CreateSafetyAlarms.exe file to %DNADataRoot%\RealTime\bin.

  11. Test the code as follows:

    1. On a Hot RealTime computer, create a SafetyAlarmTest record in the analog table.

    2. Open a Windows Command Prompt.

    3. Execute the following command:

      CreateSafetyAlarms

    4. Verify that the system generates a "safety" alarm and event against the SafetyAlarmTest record.
