To add a Views element after the System Views Element in the View menu

  1. Navigate to the following directory:

    %DNADataRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\TreeLayout\Schema\custom

  2. Within the custom folder, create a folder called component.

  3. Within the component folder, create a file called DNATreeLayoutSchema.Replace.xml.

  4. Add the following content to the file:

    Note: In our example, the ViewType attribute for the Views element is set to Farms.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

    <DNATreeLayoutSchema xmlns="http://www.telvent.com/DNATreeLayoutSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.telvent.com/DNATreeLayoutSchema

    ..\..\..\DNATreeLayoutSchema.Alter.xsd">

    <Views ViewType="Farms" ToolTipText="Farms config View" IsVisible="true">

    </Views>

    </DNATreeLayoutSchema>

    Notes: This file contains the same content as the file described in Add a Views element at the top of the View menu.

    For information on the attributes used in the file, see Views element attributes.

  5. Save the file.

  6. On the desktop, double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  7. Execute the DNATreeLayoutSchemaMerge command (see to Merge all DNATreeLayout XML files).

    The new Views element appears after the System Views element in the View menu.

    Note: Farms appears after System due to the order in which the DNATreeLayoutSchemaMerge process traverses through the directories, as described in Understanding the ordering of Views elements.
