Configure the order of Views elements in the View menu

To make a Views element appear in a specific order within the View dropdown menu, you must first recreate all existing Views elements. The DNATreeLayoutSchemaMerge process traverses the %DNADataRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\TreeLayout\Schema\baseline directory first before proceeding to the %DNAInstallRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\TreeLayout\Schema\baseline directory, and it traverses all folders in alphanumeric order (for further information, see Understanding the ordering of Views elements).

To configure the order of Views elements in the View menu

1. Navigate to the following directory:

   %DNADataRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\TreeLayout\Schema\baseline directory

2. Create a folder for each of the existing baseline view types.

3. For each folder, type a number at the start of the folder name to indicate the order of the Views element.

   

4. For each Views element, create a file called DNATreeLayoutSchema.xml.

5. Add the following content to the file and replace <component> with the name of the view type for the Views element in each folder.

   <DNATreeLayoutSchema xmlns="http://www.telvent.com/DNATreeLayoutSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.telvent.com/DNATreeLayoutSchema ..\..\..\DNATreeLayoutSchema.xsd">

   <Views ViewType="<component>" ToolTipText="<component> config View" IsVisible="true">

   </Views>

   </DNATreeLayoutSchema>

6. Save and close the file.

7. On the desktop, double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut.

   Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

8. Execute the DNATreeLayoutSchemaMerge command (see Merge all DNATreeLayout XML files).

   

In the above example, the Views elements appear in alphabetical order. You can structure the Views elements to appear in any order in the View dropdown menu by placing the Views element folders in the order in which you want them to appear in the %DNADataRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\TreeLayout\Schema\baseline directory.
