The Software Analyzer (SWANA), also known as Software Protocol Analyzer, monitors communications between Omnicomm and the remotes. The SWANA Translator translates protocol messages from a raw Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)/BIN format to an easy to read and understand format. This includes translation of any enumerated data types, bytes, or status words.
Note: SWANA translation is not available for all protocols and all messages. When SWANA translation is not available, the functionality defaults to the normal SWANA behavior minus the more user-friendly formatting.
For information on the product, refer to volume 1 of the RealTime Administrator documentation.
SWANA translates the following types of messages received from Omnicomm:
-
"Q" โ Valid query message transmitted by Omnicomm to the RTU.
-
"R" โ Valid response message sent by the RTU to Omnicomm.
SWANA attempts to translate spurious messages sent by the RTU to Omnicomm, indicated by "X". Whether or not a message is marked as spurious depends on the state of the protocol communication driver โ information that is not available to SWANA.
