Download a list of points automatically

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 3 minute read

Follow this procedure to schedule the automatic download of points at a configured frequency.

Before you begin

Complete all steps in the following sections:

  • Create a dnlist record

  • Attach a dnlist record to a remote record

Note: AVEVA does not recommend scheduling the automatic download of points via the Remote Schedule tab in the remote Row Edit dialog box. Any downloads scheduled in this manner are not available to the Controller for viewing/monitoring on the Data Download Summary window in easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS). The scheduling procedure described herein is the preferred method.

To download a list of points automatically

  1. In the Advanced Database Editor (ADE), select View > Protocols.

  2. In the tree view, double-click the Remote-DataDownload table icon under the download list whose download schedule you want to configure.

The remdnlistjoin Table Edit dialog box opens.

  3. Select Table > Insert Row.

A new yellow shaded row appears in the Data grid. The Data Download List field is pre-populated with the download list of interest.

  4. Double-click the plus sign in the row header of the new row.

The remdnlistjoin Row Details dialog box opens.

  5. In the Remote field, select the name of the associated remote.

Note: You cannot create more than one remdnlistjoin record for any remote-(dnlist record) pair.

  6. In the Group field, select the name of the group to which this record belongs.

Note: Typically, the selected group should match the one selected for the associated dnlist record.

  7. In the Dataset field, select the name of the dataset you want to associate with this record.

Note: Typically, the selected dataset should match the one selected for the associated dnlist record.

  8. In the Base Message field, select the name of the message you want to associate with this record.

  9. Select Data Download Interval Scheduler.

  10. In the Data Download Interval field, enter the desired interval in the following format:

    hh:mm:ss

Warning: Having a number of intervals as small as five seconds can lead to communication bottlenecks. AVEVA therefore recommends having only a few five-second interval schedules per remote.

Note: The Data Download Interval ranges from 00:00:00 to 99:59:59.
