Configure an exclusive ID range for each system

Configure an exclusive ID range for each system to ensure unique message IDs across the distributed systems.

Important: Customers with existing Controller Messaging data should contact AVEVA Customer Support when configuring the message range.

To configure an exclusive ID range for each system

  1. Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and connect to the system's OASySHDB Historical data server.

    For more information, see "Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio" in the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Historical Administrator documentation.

  2. Add the following statement to insert the row for system 1:

    INSERT INTO [Xosapp].[dbo].[ol_msgRange] (systemTag, minMsgId, maxMsgId)

    VALUES (<system id>, <minimum message id>, <maximum message id>)

    For example:

    INSERT INTO [Xosapp].[dbo].[ol_msgRange] (systemTag, minMsgId, maxMsgId)

    VALUES (1, 1000000, 1999999);

    You must execute a similar statement for each system and ensure MsgIds are created uniquely across different systems.

  3. Repeat the above steps on each system's OASySHDB Historical data server.
