You can modify an existing regular expression (RegEx) by creating a modified version of the original XML file.

To modify a Regex

  1. Navigate to the following directory:

    %DNADataRoot%\ADE\config\ADE\Regex

  2. Create a modified version of the original XML file.

    If the original file is named ADERegex.xml, name the modified version of the file ADERegex.Alter.xml.

  3. Within the file, change ADERegexSchema.xsd to ADERegexSchemaAlter.xsd.

  4. Insert the one, and only the one, RegEx that you want to change into the ADERegex.Alter.xml file.

  5. Maintain the Name attribute within the file.

    Notes: The Extension and Description attributes are optional.

    You can add more than one FieldPlugIn element to a Field element to perform a different type of checking.

    The structure of the file should be as follows:

    <Field

    Name="flag_@realarmTime"

    .

    .

    DisplayWidthToUse="Minimum">

    <FieldPlugIn Name="ValidationRegexField" Args = "PositiveIntegerNumber" />

    <FieldPlugIn Name="CompareValuesField" Args="< 256" />

    </Field>

  6. Close all sessions of the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) currently running on the machine.

  7. Restart ADE.
