Cancel an open changeset

The DNAChangeset command line tool can be used to cancel an open changeset on a development system.

Note: When a RealTime database (RTDB) (realtime) changeset is canceled, it is reverted and deleted and will no longer be available to track changes. When a display changeset is canceled, the display files are not reverted, but the changeset is deleted, preventing it from being added to any package.

To cancel an open changeset on a development system

  1. On the desktop, double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  2. Execute the following commands:

    set-silo RealTime

    dnachangeset cancel --type <type> --changeset <changeset id>

    Where:

    • --type <type> is mandatory for each command and describes a valid changeset type (for example, --type realtime).

    • --changeset <changeset id> is the identification number of an open changeset you would like to cancel (for example, an input of 2 would cancel the open changeset 2).

The dnachangeset cancel command would result in the following example output for a realtime changeset:

dnachangeset cancel --type realtime --changeset 2

      Changeset '2' cancelled.

The dnachangeset cancel command would result in the following example output for a display changeset:

dnachangeset cancel --type display --changeset 2

      Changeset '2' cancelled.

  3. If the dnachangeset cancel command returns an error, complete the following steps to log the failure and prevent the changeset ID from continuing to show up in the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) and the easy eXtended Operator Station (ezXOS):

    1. Execute the following command to add metadata to the changeset for future reference:

dnachangeset.exe metadata --type realtime --changeset <changeset ID> --name "<ChangeSetName>" --add "Comments"

      Where:

      • ChangeSetName = The name of the invalid changeset.

      • Comments = Comments about the failure.

    2. Execute the following command to close the changeset:

      dnachangeset.exe close --changeset <changeset id> --type realtime
