AVEVA Enterprise SCADA

Non-Covered Area Alarm

  • Last UpdatedApr 24, 2025
  • 1 minute read

The Non-Covered Area Alarm application causes AVEVA Enterprise SCADA to generate a high-severity "Area Coverage timed out" system alarm under certain conditions.

A Non-Covered Area of responsibility (AOR) alarm occurs when the Enable alarm coverage checking checkbox on the RealTime Properties tab of the AOR Area Properties dialog is selected for an AOR area (see Add an area to the non-covered alarm check), and when one or both of the following conditions are true:

  • An AOR does not have a single Controller logged in with control permissions.

  • An AOR has one or more Controllers logged in with control permissions, but none of these Controllers have control turned on.

Non - covered AOR Message Format

A Non-Covered AOR alarm message takes the following format:

'Area coverage timed out: X last checked in Y seconds ago

Where:

X = The area name.

Y = Time elapsed since the last Controller with enabled control logged off.

Note: While this is the same message that the default event generates, non-covered alarm functionality directs non-covered alarms to a designated console.
