Note: You must have Report Administrator permissions to use this tool.

Use the DNAReportCleanup tool to manage the reports in your database and delete those that are no longer needed.

This command gives you two main options: listing and deleting reports.

To list reports

DNAReportCleanup can list reports based on the report name and date of creation.

  1. Double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut on the desktop.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  2. Execute the following commands:

    set-silo Historical

    DNAReportsCleanup [-h] -L <pattern> (|y,m,d,h,n|<dateIndex>)

    Where

    • -h is an optional parameter that will display the usage information.

    • -L indicates that you want to list the reports.

    • <pattern> specifies the order in which you want them displayed. See "Patterns to use with DNAReport Cleanup" below for more information.

    • <date index> indicates the duration for the reporting period. See "Date Indexes to use with DNAReport Cleanup" below for more information.

To delete reports

You can delete the report files you no longer based on the report name and date of creation.

  1. Double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut on the desktop.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  2. Execute the following commands:

    set-silo Historical

    DNAReportsCleanup -h -D <pattern>(|y,m,d,h,n|<dateIndex>)

    Where

    • -h is an optional parameter that will display the usage information.

    • -D indicates that you want to delete the reports.

    • <pattern> specifies the order in which you want them displayed. See "Patterns to use with DNAReport Cleanup" below for more information.

    • <date index> indicates the duration for the reporting period. See "Date Indexes to use with DNAReport Cleanup" below for more information.

    Patterns to Use in DNAReportCleanup

There are three patterns or types of names that you can use to list or delete reports. If known, use the exact name of the report. Otherwise, specify the part of the name you want to use to list or delete records. An example of each naming pattern is provided in the following table.

    Syntax Example

    Definition

    *comstat*

    All reports containing comstat string.

    Event*

    All reports starting with Event.

    *.xls

    All reports ending with .xls.

Date Indexes to Use in DNAReportCleanup

There are five options for date indexes to use when listing or deleting reports. Reports will be listed or deleted for the specified time period of the DNAReportCleanup command. Use the time measurement followed by a number of that type. Examples of each time period are provided in the following table.

    Date Index

    Definition

    Syntax Example

    (y<number of year(s)>)

    y indicates year.

y1 will apply the command to reports from the last year.

    (m<number of month(s)>

    m indicates month.

m4 will apply the command to reports up to 4 months old.

    (d<number of day(s)>

    d indicates day.

d0 will apply the command to reports generated today.

    (h<number of hour(s)>

    h indicates hour.

h1 will apply the command to reports that are 1 hour old.

    (n<number of minute(s)>

    n indicates minutes.

n20 will apply the command to reports from the last 20 minutes.

    Example

The following command would list all reports from the last hour containing the ’comstat’ string, all reports from today whose names start with Event, and the specific year old report named "yearly.xls.

    DNAReportsCleanup -L *comstat*(h1) Event* (d0)*yearly.xls(y1)
