Collect Row Edit

  • Last UpdatedJul 05, 2024

Data collection into the Historical database (HDB) is configured through the collect Row Edit dialog box.

Through this dialog box, you can select the records and fields from which to collect data. These fields are referred to as "fields on collect." Refer to the table below for field descriptions and instructions on how to configure the editable fields.

Items

Description

Name

Select (...), and select the name of the application record from the Collect Fields dialog box. If this is a new record, you have to specify the field in the Collect Fields dialog box.

Collect Type

Select the method you want to use to collect data from the record. The choices are the following:

  • sample โ€” Data is collected at periodic intervals. If this type is selected, you must configure the Collect Period field.

  • offline โ€” Data is not collected. This setting can be used when you want to stop collecting data temporarily without losing other settings.

  • exception โ€” Data is collected only when there is a significant change. If this type is selected, you must configure the Deadband field. For more information, refer to Data collection by exception.

Collect Period

Select the time interval that the data should be collected in if the Collect Type is set to sample. For example, to collect every half hour, select minute and enter 30 in the Number of Periods field. The interval must be between one minute and 60 minutes (inclusive) and must divide the hour evenly (for example: one minute, five minutes, six minutes, 20 minutes.). The Collect Every fields cannot be set beyond an hour.

If Collect Period is set to none, the system zeros out whatever value appears in the Number of Periods field. This effectively disables the collection of data.

Number of Periods

Enter the number of periods that should pass before data is collected.

This field is only configured if data is collected at set intervals (i.e., Collect Type is set to sample). For example, to collect every half hour, enter 30, and then select the time period in the Collect Period field.

Deadband

Enter a deadband value to indicate the amount the acquired value must change from the previous value before the new value is collected and sent to the Historical database (HDB).

This field is only configured if the Collection Type is set to exception.

Enable Summary

Select to enable summarization of the data in the timeline and accum database for the record.

Day Summary from Device

Select to enable the collection of the uploaded day summary from the device.

Notes: The setting is only valid if either sample or exception is selected in the Collect Type field.

This checkbox is only available if Enable Summary is selected.

Fast Trend only

Select to collect up to 200 RealTime values within a circular buffer; it also collects a sample at the top of the hour.

This is only supported when the Collection Type is set to exception and the Summary checkbox is not selected.

Record Will Be Deleted

This checkbox is used to mark the collect record aimed for deletion.

Note: The checkbox cannot be selected from the collect Row Edit dialog box or from the collect Table Edit dialog box. Instead, when a collect record is deleted from the Advanced Database Editor (ADE), the checkbox will be automatically selected (in both the collect Table Edit and collect Row Edit forms) signifying that the record is marked for deletion. The record will then be deleted once it is no longer used by any RealTime process. The checkbox is disabled by default in order to ensure that there is no conflict between marking a collect record for deletion and actual record deletion.
