Use Merge XML data to import the data from an XML data file.
About this task
The merge operation will change any property value that does not match the property value defined in the XML file, and it will create new objects for any new named element. Follow the procedure below on merging XML data.
To merge XML data
-
Select Merge XML data in the left pane of the Network Management Console (NMC) Context Menu.
-
Select the directory and select the file name for the XML file.
If you do not see the desired file, change the filter setting that is to the right of the filename text box in the open file dialog box.
-
Select Open.
The Merge XML data dialog box will appear.

-
Choose whether you want to add or replace existing members:
-
Select Yes: new members from the XML will be added to the existing members.
-
Select No: members from the XML will replace the existing members.
-
-
Select Refresh in the left pane of the NMC Context Menu if the merged data does not appear in the right-hand pane.
If you selected an XML file that loaded data into the selected folder node, then the new data will appear in the right-hand side list pane. If you selected an XML file which contained XML data for another folder node, you must select that other folder node and force a refresh in order to see the merged data. Property value validation that is specific to the folder node type may be executed when merging XML data; therefore, it is recommended that you only import XML files that contain data for the selected folder node.
