Before You Begin

You will need to download and install the WiX Toolset Installer (https://github.com/wixtoolset/wix3/releases/download/wix3112rtm/wix311.exe) on the Test and Development System to use the Publish feature within the Test and Development System.

To publish changes

  1. On the desktop, double-click the Windows PowerShell for DNA shortcut.

    Windows PowerShell for DNA opens.

  2. Change the working directory to your product workspace.

  3. Execute the following command:

    publish.ps1

    Arguments:

    • -PackageName: The MSI name associated with the deployment package for the given silo.

    • -MsiVersion: The MSI version associated with the deployment package for the given silo.

      Important: To ensure any custom binaries are upgraded with new package versions, you must assign a new version number to each new version of a binary file. You can only upgrade MSIs that share the same major version number (for example, 1.0 can upgrade to 1.1; however, 1.2 cannot upgrade to 2.0).

    • -CompanyName: (Optional) The name of the company to associate with the MSI (default = AVEVA Group PLC).

  4. Locate the generated MSI at the location specified in the command output.

  5. Include the generated MSI with your setup.ps1 deployment package under the ~\Custom folder.
