Allen-Bradley DF1 Protocol Driver for OASyS

The Allen-Bradley DF1 Protocol Driver for OASyS (hereafter referred to as "the driver") enables AVEVA Enterprise SCADA to communicate with Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) devices via an asynchronous RS-232 connection using the Allen-Bradley DF1 asynchronous link protocol.

The driver supports the following AVEVA Enterprise SCADA RealTime features:

  • Poll for RealTime variables โ€“ read current analog, status, rate, and multistate points

  • Analog setpoint (for example, pressure setpoint)

  • Digital command (for example, valve control, pump or compressor control)

  • Listen Only (RealTime) โ€“ listen-only processing (requires appropriate communications configuration and/or TCP listener)

Notes: While the Advanced Database Editor (ADE) exposes all of the above features, each feature must be separately licensed to work.

For information on Listen Only communication mode, refer to Listen Only.

To use the driver in AVEVA Enterprise SCADA:

  1. Create a connection record to communicate with the remote.

  2. Create a remote record to represent the remote.

  3. Schedule the desired protocol commands.

  4. Configure the abdf1 record automatically created for the new remote record.

  5. Connect the remote record to the relevant connection so the system knows how to communicate with the end device.

  6. Configure analog, status, rate, and multistate inputs and outputs.
