Clamp alarm bracket limits within existing limits

When Alarm on Analog/Rate Reference Point is selected, the transfer of positive and negative deviation limits to the reference point's bracket limits is subject to the following rules:

  1. The positive and negative deviation of the reference point's bracket limits are always clamped between the minimum and maximum engineering units of the reference point.

  2. If neither the Hi nor the HiHi alarms are enabled on the reference point and the almbracket record's positive deviation limit falls below the Lo alarm limit while the Lo alarm limit is enabled, or it falls below the LoLo alarm limit while the LoLo alarm limit is enabled, the positive deviation limit is not considered valid and is disabled.

  3. If neither the Lo nor the LoLo alarms are enabled on the reference point and the almbracket record's negative deviation limit exceeds the Hi alarm limit while the Hi alarm limit is enabled, or it exceeds the HiHi alarm limit while the HiHi alarm limit is enabled, the negative deviation limit is not considered valid and is disabled.

  4. If the reference point's Hi or HiHi alarm limits are enabled, the positive deviation limit of the reference point's bracket is updated as follows:

    • If the almbracket record's positive deviation limit exceeds the reference point's Hi alarm limit and Hi alarm limit is enabled, the system sets the reference point's bracket positive deviation limit to the Hi alarm limit.

    • If the almbracket record's positive deviation limit exceeds the reference point's HiHi alarm limit and HiHi alarm limit is enabled, the system sets the reference point's bracket positive deviation limit to the HiHi alarm limit.

    • If the almbracket record's positive deviation limit falls between the reference point's Hi and Lo alarm limits, the system sets the reference point's bracket positive deviation limit to the positive deviation limit.

    • If the almbracket record's positive limit falls below the Lo alarm limit and the Lo alarm limit is enabled or falls below the LoLo alarm limit while the LoLo alarm limit is enabled, the system sets the reference point's bracket positive deviation limit to the Hi alarm limit when the Hi alarm limit is enabled or to the HiHi alarm limit if the HiHi alarm limit is enabled.

  5. If the reference point's Lo and LoLo alarm limits are enabled, or if at least one limit is enabled, the reference point's bracket negative deviation limit is updated as follows:

    • If the almbracket record's negative deviation limit falls below the reference point's Lo alarm limit but exceeds its LoLo alarm limit, the system sets the reference point's bracket negative deviation limit to the Lo alarm limit.

    • If the almbracket record's negative deviation limit falls below the reference point's LoLo alarm limit, the system sets the reference point's bracket negative deviation limit to the Lo alarm limit.

    • If the almbracket record's negative deviation limit falls between the reference point's Hi and Lo alarm limits, the system sets the reference point's bracket negative deviation limit to the negative deviation limit.

    • If the almbracket record's negative limit exceeds the Hi alarm limit and the Hi alarm limit is enabled or exceeds the HiHi alarm limit while HiHi alarm limit is enabled, the system sets the reference point's bracket negative alarm limit to the Lo alarm limit when the Lo alarm limit is enabled or to the LoLo alarm if the LoLo alarm limit is enabled.

Note: When the almbracket record is configured to generate alarms against an analog or rate reference point instead of the almbracket record, the system disables the reference point's bracket positive and negative deviation limits when the associated bracketsets are disabled or bracketing suspension is in effect. Any changes made to the deviation limits of the bracket while the associated bracketsets are disabled or suspended are transfered to the reference point deviation limits when one associated bracketset is enabled or suspension is ended.
