Debug a Business Logic Tier (BLT) component

Before you can debug a Business Logic Tier (BLT) component, you must insure that the components necessary for using the Machine Debug Manager (MDM) are installed on the target computer.

Note: The Machine Debug Manager feature has been deprecated and therefore is no longer supported.

About this task

After configuring the Administrators that can debug BLT Components on the target computer, you can use the following procedure to debug a component. Refer to the Microsoft Developer Network website for more information on Configuring Users.

To debug a Business Logic Tier (BLT) component

  1. Start Remote Desktop Connection or Terminal Services Client on the remote computer.

  2. Log on to the Test and Development System which has Visual Studio.NET installed.

  3. In the remote session, start Microsoft Visual Studio.NET.

  4. Select Tools > Debug Processes.

  5. In the Name field, select the host name of the target computer.

  6. Double-click on the Process ID (PID) of the process hosting your component.

  7. Select Managed, then select OK.

    You can now set a breakpoint in your code.
