Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) Test Mode

This application allows the Administrator to place remotes into test mode so that the alarms from these remotes are marked such that Controllers can immediately see that they are the result of planned testing.

AVEVA Enterprise SCADA Administrators place a Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) into "Test mode" by selecting the RTU Testmode checkbox in the applicable remote record within the Advanced Database Editor (ADE). This action generates an event in the Operational Activities Summary window. Only Administrators can perform this function.

When an RTU is placed into Test Mode, all associated database alarms and events generated against the RTU have the text "RTU TEST -" prepended to the alarm message.

Note: When a Controller executes a setpoint or digital command operation against a point in Test Mode, only the alarm message contains the "RTU TEST -" text.

Note: The Test Mode Active and Test Mode Inactive checkboxes on the Operational Activities Summary window are not part of the RTU Test Mode application. For further information, refer to the AVEVA Enterprise SCADA HMI Controller documentation.
