Design reuse can copy database elements or the whole Diagrams between projects. The exported Transfer Set contains copied elements and all their members. Referred elements are not exported until added manually to the export list by using the Get referred items button or the ADD REF command. References between elements in the Transfer Set are automatically updated during import. If the imported element already exists in the target database only, its references are updated. Please note that references to the library elements are not handled. Library elements have to be created manually in the target database before import.
Objects exportable/importable by design reuse:
-
Diagrams
-
Templates
-
Pipelines
-
Pipeline branches
-
Pipeline segments
-
Off-page Connectors
-
Cables
-
Multi-cables
-
Instrument loops
-
Instrument lines
-
HVAC lines
-
Equipment
-
Area Shapes
-
Actuators
Other elements can be also transferred, but they cannot be directly included in the export list. They can be exported only as a member of any element listed above.
Limitations:
-
The target database has to be initially prepared. The required specifications, UDA's and UDET's have to be defined in the target database prior to the import of a Transfer Set. Otherwise they will be omitted during import and the corresponding warning message will appear in the Design Reuse window. In case of a missing UDET the database element would not be imported at all. Therefore the connection between the diagram element and the database will be lost.
-
All parents of the exported element have to be named. If not, the application may crash during import.
-
The exported element should be named. If not, the import may create duplicate items if the imported element already exists in the target database.
