If a structure is built based around a grid it is possible to move an element with reference to that grid with Ship Reference.
-
From the main menu toolbar select Position > Using Ship Reference.
The Position - Ship Reference window is displayed.

-
From the Position - Ship Reference window the position of the element within the grid can be altered as follows:
-
Frame, Lg (Horz) and Lg (Vert) move the element relative to the grid lines. Frame moves the element along the X axis and Lg (Horz) moves it along the Y axis.
-
Offset moves the element within the confines of the grid box.
-
World position moves the element relative to its location in the world.
For this window to be effective, the element to be moved must have the attribute POS. If not an error message is displayed.

-
-
Select the element.
A bounding box is displayed and the Origin of the element is labelled.

-
Change the position in the Position - Ship Reference window.
The bounding box moves to the new grid position.
-
Click Apply to re-position the element.
