Results from Calculations

The following results for each calculation option are presented in tabular form:

THRUST

- maximum required thrust

ENVIRO

- maximum operating environmental condition

ERN

- ERN number as specified in References 46 and 47.

The thrust required by each unit to enable the vessel to hold position is output together with, in parentheses, the thrust produced due to speed effects on the tunnel and steerable thrusters or interaction with rudders. The direction of the thrust is also given.

Where rudders are present, the rudder angle is output in parentheses, together with the thrust direction which is changed by the interaction of thruster and rudder.

Graphical output is available to give the following data:

  • Vessel profile and thruster/rudder configuration

  • Rudder/propeller force characteristics

  • Thrust-power relationships

  • Environmental coefficients:

    • wind

    • current (in deep and shallow water)

    • mean wave drift (for = 3, 5, 7m)

  • Rosette of holding capability for option ENVIRO
