List Filters

Filters can be applied to lists so that they show only certain records. For example, only elements with a particular description.

Two types of filtering can be applied to a list. The type of filtering to be used for a list is set using the Multi-select Filter Style checkbox in the Grid Options group of the View tab, or via the Multi Select Filter option on the menu accessed by right-clicking on a list.

If the checkbox is checked or the menu option is ticked, then the multi-select style filtering facility is activated (see Multi-Select Filtering). If not, an alternative type of filtering facility is in use (see Alternate Filtering).

When a filter is applied, this is indicated by a message displayed in the status bar:
